Our Organization
Restored Hope Education Center began when our founder, Ken Schmidt, recognized that the standard methods of treating debilitating reading and learning disabilities were ineffective for many students in his elementary classroom. He began to search for effective alternatives. Those alternatives led to Restored Hope Education Center, one of the premier learning centers located in the Kansas City, MO area.
Ken Schmidt is an education specialist from the Kansas City area. He graduated from Graceland University with a BA in Elementary Education, and obtained a Master’s degree in Assessment from Missouri Western State University. Ken spent his first 30 years teaching in public and private schools. He worked also in school administration for eight years.
In the 1980’s, Ken founded Restored Hope Remedial Services (later renamed Restored Hope Education Center), a learning center for children with learning impairments. He has been working with children, researching and applying state-of-the-art techniques and therapies to remedy the types of problems he encountered in his daily classroom teaching. Restored Hope Education Center currently offers extensive testing to children and adults, at unusually low costs, to allow families to determine exactly what the areas of weakness are and find solutions to eliminate learning barriers.
